Privacy Policy — Discogs Edit Helper

Discogs Edit Helper ("the extension") is a browser extension that helps users prepare Discogs release edits by importing metadata (tracklists, credits, styles, cover art, etc.) from Discogs itself and from a set of supported music-store websites (e.g. Bandcamp, Apple Music, Qobuz, Beatport, and similar).

The extension does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any user data with the developer or with any third party. Everything the extension reads or stores stays on your device and is used only to fill in a Discogs edit form in your browser.

What data the extension accesses, and why

Network requests the extension makes

The extension makes network requests only to:

Discogs (discogs.com, api.discogs.com) — to fetch or submit the release/draft data you are actively editing
The specific music-store site you are importing from (e.g. Bandcamp, Apple Music, Qobuz, Beatport, and the other supported stores listed in the extension's permissions) — to fetch the public release page or cover art you asked it to import

No request is ever made to any analytics, advertising, telemetry, or data-collection endpoint. The extension has no backend server of its own — there is nowhere for your data to be sent even if it wanted to.

Data sharing

The extension does not share any data with the developer, with Anthropic, with advertisers, or with any other third party. No data is sold, rented, or used for purposes unrelated to filling in the Discogs edit form you are working on.

Data retention

Aside from your own extension settings (stored locally on your device via storage.local until you clear them or uninstall the extension), the extension does not retain any data. Page content and cookies are read at the moment you use the extension and are not cached, logged, or stored beyond that.

Permissions

The extension requests the following browser permissions, used exclusively as described above:

storage — save your local settings
cookies — read session cookies for the sites you're importing from, so requests are authenticated the same way your normal browsing session is
tabs — detect the active tab's URL to know which store site you're on
scripting — inject the import logic into the page you're viewing
Host permissions for Discogs and the supported store domains — to read the release page and make the requests described above

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same URL with a revised "Last updated" date.
